Wrasses (Labridae)
The Wrasses constitute a large and diverse family of marine fishes and they range in sizes from a
few inches to the largest; 7 feet long Napoleon Wrasse. A majority of them stay close to the reef
slopes and lagoon edges and live their lives in shallow waters. Some of the species form
aggregations a few meters away from rocks while others hide in the sand or amongst coral branches.
They feed on zooplankton and for aquarists there is a lot to consider when it comes to the suitability
of each separate species.
