Triggerfishes (Balistidae)
The family consists of some forty species, about half of which are available for marine aquarists.
They have rough, plate-like skin. The three dorsal spines along with a distensible underside help
them "lock" themselves between rocks for protection. The Trigger fishes range in size as much as
temperament. Members of the same species can differ from very peaceful to almost unholy terrors
consuming all in sight.
