Tangs have gotten
their name from the sharp spine they have on the base of their tails.
They use
this spine as a weapon, and can inflict severe wounds. Tangs have
small mouths and fine, chisel-like
teeth with which they scrape algae from rocks and corals. A good growth
of algae in your aquarium,
supplement with leaf lettuce and flaked food helps keeping your Tangs
in good health. The water
quality must be perfect. Usually Tangs can't be kept in small groups;
either individual or in larger
groups in which they can shoal. If you have only two, they will fight
each other fiercely.
