Angelfishes (Pomacanthidae)
Angelfishes represent hundreds of species and are one of the most common groups of fishes on
the reef. Their diet varies from algae and sponge to zooplankton. Many Angelfishes have a different
color and/or pattern as juveniles. Some Angelfishes clean parasites from other fishes as juveniles.
The colorization and pattern work as an advertisement for this service to other fishes. To make an
Angelfish thrive in an aquarium it is important to not only have excellent water quality but also a good
algae growth. You could also use special sponge based frozen food.
